It is an extraordinary musical project called “Bach & Schnitger”: Jacobi organist Gerhard Löffler presents a complete performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s organ works—played on the world-famous Arp Schnitger organ from 1693.
This ambitious concert cycle spans four years and features 17 thematically curated concerts, offering audiences a journey into a rich, historical soundscape.
What makes this series particularly special is its authenticity: it is performed on the originally preserved Arp Schnitger organ. The North Germen organ builder Arp Schnitger (1648–1719) is considered one of the most significant of his time, and the largest surviving instrument of his work is housed at St. Jacobi.
