Pilgrims’ centre

Pilgrims’ centre

The “Pilgrim Centre of the North” was opened as a pilgrims’ chapel in 2013, and is located in a Gothic side chapel of St. Jacobi. The centre serves as a central coordination point for pilgrimage work in Hamburg and the whole Nordkirche network.

Pilgrims and those who would like to do a pilgrimage can get advice here on everything that needs to be considered — no matter how long or short you would like your pilgrimage to be — for all north German and European pilgrimage routes.

Pastor Frank Karpa, the pilgrims' assistant Claudia Exner and a large team of volunteers regularly hold events providing information, opportunities to meet up and share experiences, and special church services for pilgrims. This includes the monthly pilgrim vespers, at which pilgrims can be blessed, for their journey and to mark their return to everyday life.

Visitors may also access an extensive library on the topic.
